I like this band but I hate that at the end of every song I want to ask what was it about. I’m an extreme observer and I feel like there could be some depth behind it but I honestly can’t dissect what any…

I read somewhere that jimmy said music is just his hobby and he doesnt take it seriously but then he said “the song ripper is about jekyll and hyde. the beast within men„ its not about rape and its not about any of us.. its fiction!! its about a highly regarded doctor who has a dark secret, he has uncontrollable urges to drug married women and preform both nefarious sexual acts and scientific experiments in his underground lair” so idk?

O really well nevermind if he doesn’t care then why should I.

did she read that on twitter or something ?

I like this band but I hate that at the end of every song I want to ask what was it about. I’m an extreme observer and I feel like there could be some depth behind it but I honestly can’t dissect what any of their songs are about. The instrumentals are dangerous, they’re great I love them but something always leaves me hanging. I don’t know maybe I’m over thinking it too much.

maybe you are maybe you arent it depends on your background and what type of music you like. no one who is into punk really cares what a song is saying until they need to most of the hypeness from shows are from the music not the words as in grunge its a little bit of both and in rock n roll its the lyrics then the music that is important so its mostly up to the listener and what they want to believe. you already said your a overthinker so thats what it is you want to think to much about a song means instead of enjoying it.

I understand what you’re saying and I agree with some of your points but even the Dead Boys had a meaning behind All This Is and More. I was listening to the Luna Chicks last night and even with their obnoxious chord progressions I understood and have a long going love for Mr. Lady so it has nothing to do with the genre. These songs just don’t mean anything, I didn’t write them so why should it be deciphered by me. When you allow everyone to determine the definition of your art it loses it’s value so leaving it up to the listener makes no sense especially if the song doesn’t have a definition in the first place. I do enjoy it but it’s like that feeling you get after watching Black Swan sure it was entertaining but what the hell was the point.

the dead boys are punk royalty these boys are just beginning, to draw a comparison is a tab bit silly the luna chicks are women so of course they have some emotions behind there songs these guys arent really punk there more grunge- alternative and boderline pop you have to give them time to develop as writers by the time they release a full lp it could get better stop putting so much pressure on them if they dont know what to say but just want scream over some cords then letem and ease up you even said yourself that you like it so they must be doing something right lol.

Am I coming off as overbearing. Le sigh. I don’t mean to be, I’ve really grown a liking to them and it bothers me that I can’t get into it like I should be able to. You’re right there are two songs that I really enjoy so maybe it is just me being too hard on them but it’s only cos I can feel their potential weighing so heavy :| I’ll stop complaining about it and let it be what it’ll be.

exactly lol i like you your a tuff one.
